A community ritual for your grief & praise

ASHES & EMBERS

Dance is prayer, prayer is alchemy. Together, we will answer the door—grief is knocking—& warmly receive our guest. She is yearning to share her secrets. Can you hear her?

Let us make of our grief a prayer, an offering for more life. For when we honor what we’ve lost, we make sacred what remains.

This is a collective ritual dance, the purpose of which is to give space to the death processes within our hearts. Our beloved dance community has felt the shock waves of shadow & borne witness to painful revelations. Our planet is crying out in pain under modernity's weight. There are genocides. Lovers continue to break hearts & family members keep disappointing. It's all so, so much.

This is your space for all of it. Let yourself feel, be seen, & be among allies. Come to grieve what you've lost, what you love that no longer is, & what never was. Come to remember that the true face of grief is praise & that to honor death is to be reborn.

Difficult to describe, impossible to prepare for, unsurprisingly searing, surprisingly buoyant, tenderly eviscerating, inexorably stirring, dark, bright, loud, quiet, deep, deep, deep. (And: some pretty immaculate DJing.) Moved a lot and walked out lighter."
